Golden Grand Slam is a Combo Tour of sight seeing and action offered on a day trip from Reykjavik, including a pick up from Reykjavik Backpackers hostel. The tour includes a visit to Geysir Geothermal Area, Gullfoss Waterfall, Thingvellir National Park and White Water Rafting on Hvítá River.

Description

The trip starts with a walk through the geothermal area in Haukadalur, the home of the one and only Geysir. There the ground gurgles, bubbles and super heated water escapes from the ground with enormous force. Next we stroll down to Gullfoss, the undisputed queen of Icelandic waterfalls. Drumbó basecamp is our following stop and there we eat lunch before heading out for a great rafting trip on Hvítá river. You can easily exchange river rafting with canoeing for 2.000 ISK extra. Afterwards the sauna and hot tubs are at hand before entering the road again. On the way home we stop at Þingvellir National park. Þingvellir is a UNESCO world heritage site and the original birthplace of the oldest existing parliament in the world. In addition the great tectonic plates of America and Europe meet here and the rift valley is clearly visible. This trip has it all; stunning natural beauty, interesting history, amazing geological wonders and a great rafting adventure!

Price 17.990 ISK per person.

Includes: Pick up from Reykjavik Backpackers and lunch at Drumbó Basecamp.

Guaranteed departures: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 09:00 from Reykjavik Backpackers with a 2 person minimum.

Distance from Reykjavik: 110 km.

Duration of trip: 10 hours.

Age limit: 12 years for the full rafting tour, shorter tour available for younger children.

Bring with you: Warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and pants, towel, bathing suit, warm sweater and a change of clothing. No knowledge of the sport required.

Note: Arctic Adventures uses only mini-vans so the Grand Slam is always a small group experience!
