Description

The lovely but rugged nature of this valley offers a unique composition of glaciers, rocks and wood, not to forget the glacial rivers you will have to cross with a modified 4x4 vehicle to get there. On the way to Thorsmörk we drive through the districts where the best known Icelandic Sagas took place, visit the picturesque waterfall Seljalandsfoss and stop at the spectacular gorge Stakkholtsgja.  Driving over gravel roads and fording various rivers you drive into the glacier valley Thorsmörk where we go on a hike in its breathtaking surroundings.

Before we head back to Reykjavik we stop at the frozen glacier tongue that is Solheimajökull. There we will explore the glacier and I mean really, really explore the glacier!  We will provide you with crampons and all the necessary glacier gear. We will take a walk on the glacier and observe the spectacular surroundings. It is an otherworldly scene, rugged, raw and ever changing hub of ancient frozen water. As we drive back to Reykjavik we will stop at the beautiful Skógafoss waterfall.

On this trip you get to see and do what most of the population will only dream about and very few ever try.
